Asbestos Awareness Day Conference
For anyone who has ever been affected by exposure to asbestos or lost a loved one to an asbestos related disease, such as mesothelioma, asbestosis or lung cancer, a conference is being held at the end of this month in Southern California. The conference will be a combination of honoring and remembering those that have lost their lives due to asbestos as well as a variety of presentations about avoiding deadly exposure, recognizing early disease symptoms, and expanding awareness about health and environmental effects of asbestos.
The Fifth Annual Asbestos Awareness Day Conference will be held at the Manhattan Beach Marriott in Southern California starting Friday, March 27th and ending Sunday, March 29 with a remembrance.
The Conference is being organized by the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) and supported by the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute and the International Ban Asbestos Secretariat (IBAS). The ADAO was founded by asbestos victims and their families in 2004 with the intent to provide the most advanced medical, occupational, and environmental information available about asbestos related diseases. According to Co-founder and Executive Director of ADAO, Linda Reinstein, “Asbestos Awareness Day is an opportunity to spread awareness about the dangers of asbestos, recognize accomplishments and honor loved ones.”
In addition to offering the conference, ADAO also supports the introduction of S.RES.57, a resolution that declares the first week of April as National Asbestos Awareness Week. They hope that passage of such a resolution would help educate the public about the deadly hazards of asbestos exposure.
