Toy Company Sued Over Asbestos Files Bankruptcy
A New York toy manufacturer, Planet Toys, Inc. was accused of selling a product, the CSI Fingerprint Examination Kit, that was contaminated with asbestos. When asbestos was allegedly found in samples taken from the toy kits, Planet Toys pulled the product from shelves and stopped selling it. The manufacturer was sued last year by the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization and also faces a potential class action law suit. Now Planet Toys is filing for bankruptcy protection claiming their liabilities far exceed their assets.
